To encourage visitors, car parking is free on 7 December for Small Business Saturday.
With Tamworth Borough Council supporting this national initiative, the aim is to see more people ‘shopping local’ and supporting the range of small independent businesses in their town as part of the national Small Business Saturday. The event is a national non-commercial campaign, which highlights small businesses encouraging consumers to 'shop local' and support small businesses in their communities.
Car parking in Tamworth Borough Council car parks is free on this date and the 23 December, in the hope people will be encouraged to visit the town centre to shop local and to enjoy the Christmas in Tamworth activities on offer.
Councillor Nova Arkney, portfolio holder for infrastructure, heritage and local economy for Tamworth Borough Council, said: “The festive market is a fantastic way for small, independent creative businesses to reach new customers. If you are a small and local business please get involved and join us on the 7 December, whether you make Christmas crafts, treats, or anything else.
“We’re lucky to have a number of small and independent businesses in our town centre, and shopping in town on Small Business Saturday is a fantastic way to shop local and support your local economy.
“To encourage people to shop local, we’re offering free parking days on the 7 and 23 December. I hope that a lot of people will support Small Business Saturday again this year. Please tell your family and friends and support your town centre.”
